The new Athens Airport in Spata will open in 2001, replacing the Athens International Airportexisting airport. Athens, already connected with all continents, is expected to see new direct air services after the new airport's inauguration.
Express bus lines connect the airport terminals with the city center and Pireas.


A dense network of bus routes connects Athens with the rest of the country and a number of European cities.

Train services run to Peloponnese and Northern Greece as well as to several European countries.

Piraeus Port
Pireas, the port of Athens, is the hub of the Greek ferry network. Frequent ship departures take travelers to the Greek islands and other Mediterranean destinations.


Getting around in Athens is much easier now with the opening of two new Metro lines, which complete the existing line and the bus services.
