Transportation
The new Athens Airport in Spata will open in 2001, replacing
the existing
airport. Athens, already connected with all continents, is expected
to see new direct air services after the new airport's inauguration.
Express bus lines connect the airport terminals with the city center
and Pireas.
A dense network of bus routes connects Athens with the rest
of the country and a number of European cities.

Train services run to Peloponnese and Northern Greece as well
as to several European countries.

Pireas, the port of Athens, is the hub of the Greek ferry network.
Frequent ship departures take travelers to the Greek islands and other
Mediterranean destinations.
Getting around in Athens is much easier now with the opening of two
new Metro lines, which complete the existing line and the bus
services.
